Hedgehog Rescue

Hedgehogs are nocturnal creatures and come out at night. If you see a hedgehog wandering round during the day it is likely to be sick and in need of medical attention even if it looks well.

Hedgehog Care

I am able to provide care and treatment for hedgehogs found unwell, out in the day, injured, underweight and offer advice

Rehabilitation

The ultimate aim being to reintroduce healthy hedgehogs safely back into the wild.

How can you help?

I’m often asked for a list of things that I need for the hedgehogs. As well as the Amazon wishlist, Easyfundraising and paypal donation pages I am always very grateful for; newspapers, kitchen roll, cat food in jelly meaty/poultry and cat/kitten biscuits (Not Aldi or Lidl ),ย  auction and tombola/ raffle items. About

I run Hedgehog Help Prestatyn in North Wales. I take in poorly, underweight, injured, orphaned hedgehogs and treat, rehabilitate and release back to the wild where they were found , if safe to do so. I started this in 2013 after finding poorly hedgehogs in the garden and not knowing where to take them or how to get help. I joined the British Hedgehog Preservation Society and registered as a carer then attended the Hedgehog carer course, at The Vale Wildlife Hospital near Tewkesbury, Gloucester. I bought a shed, equipment and found a vet who was willing to work with me. I want to spread the word that I am here to help hedgehogs and to educate and inform the public what to look out for, how they can help and who to contact locally. I am from a farming and nursing background so nature and caring are fundamentally important to me. We must not lose touch of our links with nature. I see through my volunteers and helpers, how it inspires them and gives purpose. Striving to save this iconic creature.
